VISIONARY in STRATEGY and EXECUTION

EXPERIENCE: 10+ YEARS IN KENYA | 25+ YEARS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
ABOUT ME…
The one great thing about getting older is that the pieces of the puzzle of life start fitting together. What once looked like a random career path suddenly starts to make sense.
Masters in optimisation. AI experiments in Barcelona. Loving the arts in Paris. Business school at IMD. Executive years at Orange. Pricing battles at Philips. Business travel to five continents. Rediscovering life in Nairobi. Becoming a founder. Transforming corporates. Accelerating startups. Pioneer. Provocateur. Visionary.
I love my life in Kenya, where I get to bring together my knowledge, experience, and vision to make a difference in the world. It turns out the puzzle pieces weren’t that random after all. They prepared me for what I do now: redesigning value chains to be more productive, transforming corporates to leapfrog the economy, and supporting entrepreneurs to grow with sustainable profits.
MY PASSIONS…

Arts
I often turn to art to shift my thinking. A sculpture, a painting, a line in a song—something that holds more than it shows. I’m drawn to work with layers: what you see at first glance, and what unfolds when you sit with it longer or learn the story behind it.
That layered way of seeing influences how I work too. Whether I’m building systems or shaping wood, I care about what’s visible—and what’s underneath.

Sports
What draws me to sports is the mindset. The dedication. The mental discipline it takes to push past limits, work relentlessly toward something uncertain, and keep showing up anyway. I’ve always admired that belief—athletes who commit to their dream and do the work, whether it pays off or not.
I’m more of a watcher than a player, but I love it all: football, rugby, cycling, speed skating, baseball, basketball. Especially team sports—where different roles and strengths come together in motion. And the artists within the athletes—the ones who break patterns, follow their own instincts, and change the game because of it.

Food
I’ve been fortunate to live and travel in many different countries, and food is often what brings me back, if only in memory. Cooking or eating a dish from somewhere I’ve been doesn’t just remind me of a place; it reconnects me with how I felt and experienced life there.
I also love how different cultures work with what’s available to them, how something as simple as flour and water can become a baguette, or tortilla, chapati, injera. The ingredients might be the same, but the results are completely different. That kind of creativity shaped by local taste and tecnique never stops to fascinate me.

MY EXPERTISE…
Productivity & Optimisation
Productivity and optimisation make the most sense to me as part of a bigger picture: how systems flow, how decisions amplify each other and how outcomes are shaped across entire value chains. Real optimisation doesn’t boost one element in isolation, it improves the interconnectedness of the whole. And productivity, at a systemic level, is less about squeezing resources and more about maximising utility, aligning incentives and making the end-to-end more intelligent overall.
In developing markets, the productivity gap often stems from fragmented systems, misaligned priorities and a tendency to run projects in isolation. That’s why I focus on data-driven optimisation using real operational insights to redesign how systems work across the chain. I believe in creating for the collective outcome, because the best solutions don’t just perform better, they amplify the results of everything and everyone involved.
Technology & AI
I didn’t know it at the time, but I got incredibly lucky with the career path I chose. Already in the 1990s, I started developing AI algorithms from scratch: structuring the models, defining the variables, programming the constraints, and testing the outcomes ourselves, end to end.
That kind of visibility is rare these days as technology has become more fragmented, more abstract and often less transparent. Especially with AI it’s easy to forget that it isn’t magic, it’s simply modelling. It’s still humans making decisions, even when we say it’s machines learning. If the data is poor or the logic broken, technology will just accelerate the wrong outcomes.
But when used well, technology doesn’t replace our wonderfully creative and interconnected human intelligence — it amplifies how we think, helping us navigate complexity and make better decisions, faster.
Business & Entrepreneurship
Many people think innovation starts with a great idea. I see it differently. It’s not just about the idea and its execution, it’s about how that execution can be realised in the real world… because though ideas may look similar on paper, no two businesses are the same. Every startup, corporate or organisation operates within its own mix of constraints: available resources, operating environment, legacy systems and ways of thinking.
What I enjoy most is the creative process of navigating those realities: finding the balance between vision and what’s practically possible. Real transformation happens when choices are aligned, but where strategy meets execution grounded in trade-offs, context and timing.
Often the pieces are already there, they just need to be recognised, brought together, and unapologetically activated.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

I support organisations to rethink how they work from pricing and profitability to innovation, digital transformation, and decision-making.
My approach is shaped by years of running transformation programs inside large corporates like Orange and Philips, and advising companies across sectors in Kenya and beyond.
I work closely with teams to build practical solutions they can own and grow. Work that keeps delivering long after I'm gone.
